I attended the Patagonia Town Council last night. Here are the evening results.
1. A motion was approved unanimously to allow TRS to host/stage TWBD 2020 in town with all of 2019’s permissions. Several Council members & Food Bank Manager expressed their gratitude for the $2,000 donation to the Food Bank. Town Marshal Joe Patterson chimed in with comments about how respectful our event participants were and how TRS demonstrated concern for rider safety.
2. The TRS Appreciation plaque was presented to the Mayor and Council members. Heard some oohs & aaahhs as I showed the plaque. We then received a round of applause from everyone in the room. Cool.

Steve Brown and George Wysopal were in Patagonia last night to attend the bi-monthly Town Council meeting. While at the meeting they presented an appreciation plaque to the Town Council for their support of TRS’ motorcycle event and fundraiser, There Will Be Dust VI. Thank you letters were also issued to the Gathering Grounds and Stage Stop Inn. Both of these businesses provided TWBD participants and guests outstanding service and meals.
After Steve handed off the plaque and thank you letters, all in the audience and Council members applauded our expressions of thanks. Their reaction certainly surprised both of us. Several of the Council made it known they were extremely pleased with the success of our event and the respectful behavior all participants demonstrated while visiting Patagonia. The Council also made special note and high praise for the $1,500 donation to the local food bank. Further discussions with the Council confirmed TRS is welcome to come back in November of this year for the next running of There Will Be Dust!
Those at the club meeting last night had a chance to check out the wonderful cutting board given to us by the East Santa Cruz Community Food Bank. We received this gift from them as a token of appreciation for our $1,500 donation.
We discussed how to best utilize this gift. There were a few suggestions presented last night.
1. Raffle it off at our next meeting
2. Keep it in the TRS trailer for use at club events
3. Laser etch the TRS logo onto the board and hang it on a wall inside of East Coast Supersubs
Perhaps the best part of There Will Be Dust VI was meeting the fine folks, Clark and Judith of the East Santa Cruz County Community Food Bank located in Patagonia. Today I presented to them a check in the amount of $1,500 to support the Food Bank they represent. All the riders who attended this year’s event made this donation possible. TRS thanks you very much.
This donation is what makes TRS special. Each year at this time we strive to make a donation to a local cause that will improve the holiday season for those less fortunate.
Clark & Judith surprised me with a gift for TRS as their way of saying thanks. (See the photo) The handmade cutting board comes right from their own shop. The photo does not do it justice. I will bring it to next week’s club meeting.

Over 80 rides and over 100 total in attendance had an outstanding time at There Will Be Dust VI. TRS thanks the town of Patagonia, Arizona State Parks, the USFS and all the volunteers, friend and families that made this event a huge success.
