Red Spring Introduction Ride, Sunday 2/18/2024

February 18 @ 10:00 AM 1:00 PM

Message From Gary Meeker —

This will be a guided exploration of some of the easier trails in the Red Spring system of trails led by TRS members. All are welcome with the following requests, experience with riding a dirt bike off road, bike in good working order, OHV sticker, Spark Arrestor, reasonably quiet. You don’t need to be fast. Your bike does not need to be street legal.

Stay tuned, the weather could turn bad, resulting in us having to cancel the event. Should have a good idea by 2/15.

The loop will be about 30 miles in length. A mix of FS dirt roads and single-track trails.

There will be a few mildly technical spots, but TRS members will be there to help if needed.

All will meetup at the FS Staging area which is about 4 miles in on 684 at 10:00, Ready to Ride. Riders will then be split up into groups with TRS members to lead and sweep. Expect to be riding for about 3 hours.

Parking, if you have a State Trust Land permit you can park just off the frontage road or at many of the places along 684 leading up to the FS Staging area. Or transport your bike all the way to the FS Staging area.

Why? Because TRS and the Forest Service wants to get riders out enjoying this trail system and more riders using the trails means the possibility of getting more miles of trails.

Directions:

I 19, exit 40 Chavez Siding Road. Head north on the west frontage road about .3 miles. Left onto the dirt road. There is a parking area about .1 miles in on 684 and many other places along 684 to park. You need a State Trust Land Permit to park anywhere along the first 3 miles of 684. The FS Staging area is about 4 miles in on 684.

Maps of the area are free in Avenza here. https://store.avenza.com/collections/trail-riders-of-southern-arizona We will be following the Red Spring Loop, kind of.
