Route information

Route Description/Difficulty: TRS has selected routes that are first and foremost fun. We have avoided anything that by most riders would be considered technically challenging. There will not be any wash sections to traverse. A detailed route information sheet will be provided separate from this communication. There will be active Avenza maps and GPX files.

  • A-route: toughest and includes all manner of 2-track and some single track (with optional AA section). Best suited for bikes such as KTM EXC’s, Beta RR’s etc. A non-plated route is available too for dirt bikes.
  • B-route: mix of maintained/semi-maintained dirt roads, consider this a “Hero” route for big bike riders. Best suited for bigger bikes such as KLRs, KTM 690’s.
  • C-route: bike big friendly with paved roads along with maintained/semi-maintained dirt roads. Best suited for those big or small bike riders seeking a milder ride experience.
  • All routes will be ~100 or more miles depending on route choice. Plan to use the gas stop at the San Rafael Ranch House.

Navigation

GPS Track Files & Avenza Maps: This navigation data will be sent via email to all TWBD participants about a week prior to the event.  Questions about the GPS track can be answered at Check-in on Saturday morning. TWBD participants are responsible for loading the GPX tracks into their personal navigation devices.

Gas Available

  • Patagonia, fill up before you start you ride.
  • Gas available at the lunch stop, be sure to bring a full gas can. TRS will transport the gas cans to the lunch stop location.

Safety

THIS IS NOT A RACE! Caution – ALL HIGHWAYS, DIRT ROADS AND TRAILS WILL HAVE TWO WAY TRAFFIC, everything from other bikes, cars, trucks, side x sides and cattle. Please use extra caution in route sections with blind corners.  As best you can, stay on your side of the road! You will ride at or below the posted speed limit on the streets of Patagonia.

Every participant must check-out with a TRS “Crew “volunteer as you leave Patagonia to start your ride, check-in at your lunch stop and check-in again upon completing the ride back in Patagonia.

We strongly encourage you to find a riding buddy if you are new to this style of event. Please plan to ride with others, it is not safe to ride alone.

Should you have an emergency call 911. There will be limited sweep rider coverage.

All participants are responsible for their own safety and should ride within in their range of ability. Carry the basic bike repair supplies, water and a snack to consume along the ride.  Strongly recommend a personal satellite communication device such as a Garmin inReach Mini.

Raffle Prize Party

To be conducted during dinner ~6:00pm. 1st Raffle ticket is free, $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. The location of the raffle Prize Party will be inside the Wild Horse restaurant.
