TRS September Club Meeting Minutes, Highlights
Thanks to AZKKT & Andrew McGlaughlin for allowing us to use the store for our meeting.
Special Guests: The Garrett Comer appreciation presentation was rescheduled to October 14th at CSA.
Motorcycle Trivia: Quizzed the audience on the 2-stroke expansion chamber design and the history behind the dirt bike single rear shock.
Financials Report: Financial report shows a continued good health position for the club. No major expenses outstanding, TWBD registration fees have begun to process.
Membership Report: Molly Norman report membership holds steady around 140.
AMRA Report: Competition Committee: Mike Perry reported the last race of the season is in Flagstaff in October. Now is the time to submit rule changes for 2026. Open call for 2026 AMRA Officer positions.
OHVAG Report: Mike Cook identified Senator Tim Dun as an OHV grant program champion. He prevented community agencies from by-passing the grant review/approval system to gain access to the OHV Grant program funds.
Old Business: George reported the following.
o There Will Be Dust prep continues. Logo, t-shirt and banner designs complete. On-line registration is open. Additional supporters confirmed this month FluidLogic, Cochise Motorsports.
o A Willingham Grant application for 2026 was submitted and in the review process.
o A Red Spring Trail Phase II meeting is planned for 9-12 with District Ranger & Natural Resource Specialist.
o Red Spring Trail trash clean-up & trail maintenance days. Watch for dates in October – February.
New Business
o Patagonia Mountains Camp & Ride: October 11-12 (10th is optional). See details in the email announcement or on the Members Only FB Event post.
o USFS Roadless Rule Change Proposal: Gary Meeker led a discussion to explain the true intent of the rescinding order. Public Comment period is open, Gary submitted comments for TRS. This proposal and review process will take a long time to air out.
o CSA Customer Appreciation & Powersport Swap Meet, Saturday Oct 4 9AM – 2PM.
Tech Tip: Prep for longer rides, what’s in your pack? Can you make the basic trail-side repairs? When did you last review the contents of the pack? Please be ready if you plan to ride TWBD.
Open Discussion: A request was made for a First Aid training class. Adam McCreight conformed he has an instructor who can conduct the class. Details to follow.
Raffle Prizes awarded: Motion pro tool, bike grips, helmet cleaner/deodorizer, fuel stabilizer, riding gloves, Muck-Off cleaner.
