DUAL SCRAMBLE – MARCH 8, 2025

General Race Information:

Entry Site Location San Manuel Az. GPS 32°35’44”, -110°37’47”

Access race campus from Erickson Avenue only. 

Pro Purse $2,000, Fastest Lap $200, Hole Shot, $200.

  • The Copper Classic is an AMRA and AMA sanctioned event.
  • All racers including Mini’s must possess AMRA & AMA memberships.
  • Transponders will be used for all races, included Mini’s. 
  • Temporary AMRA numbers available at Registration, $10. 
  • Dead Engine starts, all races except Mini Race #1.
  • AMRA Big Bike Classes & Divisions as listed in the AMRA Supplemental Rule Book.
  • No pre-running the racecourse, no jetting loop, come prepared. Elevation is ~3500’.
  • AMRA bike number plates are required.  
  • No pit bikes, ATV’s or Side by Sides allowed on the race campus, race bikes only. 
  • Any course cutting will result in a DQ.
  • Quiet Hours 10pm – 6am Friday March 9th. (especially generators, music, & bikes).
  • No open alcohol or guns allowed on school property.

Fees

  • Pre-registration available from February 17th. to March 5th.  (http://www.amraracing.com).
  • Big Bike $80 pre, day of race $95, AA Pros $150*. Minis $35*. *Club Sponsors will cover $30 of the AA Pro Entry & $25 of the Minis. Final cost for AA Pros, $120, Mini’s $10 !!!
  • Transponders: $10.
  • Memberships available at the event. AMA (Day Pass $25, Annual $49) & AMRA ($20 Annual).
  • NO CHECKS ACCEPTED AT REGISTRATION – CASH, VENMO or ZELLE accepted.
  • No Gate fees. Camping fee is $10 per vehicle, Cash only for camping fee.

Big Bike Race Details:

  • A variant of a Dual Scramble race format for Big Bikes. 
  • There are two (2) independent racecourse courses, East Course & West Course 
  • All Big Bike racers will race both courses. Each course is ~6.5 miles long.
  • There will be a common race start area. Line up by Class. Dead engine start. 15 seconds between rows.
  • Racing starts with the A&B’s racing a series of laps around East Course.
  • After all A&B’s have left the start area, the C’s race a series of laps around the West Course.
  • There will be a common scoring area at the end of the courses.  
  • White Flag for AA / A / B comes out at 1 hour and for C at 45 minutes.
  • Then Checker flag for all racers will then be given after the leader completes the white flag lap.
  • No Pit Row.
  • Once the first race is completed, there will be a short break until the start of the second race.
  • Riders are allowed to return to their camp to refuel, before re-starting. 
  • Racers regroup at the starting area to start racing again. 
  • A&B’s will again start first and race the West Loop, C’s race the East Loop
  • There will be a $200 Hole Shot and Fastest Lap award available for Pro racers, first race one only.

Tech Inspection and Check-In Hours:

  • Friday March 7th, 4:00-8:00 pm.
  • Saturday March 8th 6:00-10:30 am. Mini racers close at 7:30am.
  • Mini Tech & Check-in at Registration close at 7:30am Saturday.
  • All bikes, Mini’s included, MUST have an USFS approved spark arrestor and must pass a sound test 96dba. 
  • No refund for failing. 
  • Required Items: Hydration system, Sound Test -96db, USFS approved spark arrestor, Kill switch, Helmet compliant with AMA standards, Goggles (no tear-offs), Chest protector for Youth racers.

Riders Meetings & Race Start Times:

  • Mini Racers Race 1-Riders meeting on Saturday March 8th  at 8:15am at the Mini Start area. Racing starts at 8:30am. A live engine start. Course length ~1.5 miles. A flag is waved at 30 minutes.
  • Mini Racers Race 2 -Riders meeting on Saturday March 8th at 9:15am at the Mini Start area. Racing starts at 9:30am. A dead engine start. Course length ~7.5 miles. A flag is waved at 45 minutes.
  • Mandatory Big Bike racer meeting Saturday March 8th at 11:15 am. Location of this meeting is near the Registration & Check-in area.
  • All Big Bike (AA/A/B/C) racing starts at Noon Saturday March 8th.
  • Adjustments to start times for all races subject to change. Any time changes will be announced prior to race day.

Mini Race Groupings: 

  • Race: 1 All 50cc (4-8), 65cc (7-9). 
  • Race 2: 65cc (10-11), 65cc – 85cc (11-14) Girls, 85cc (9-11), 85cc (12-14) Supermini (12-16).

Safety:

  • A spectator area will be set up to view the Big Bike race start. Spectators must stay behind the safety barriers and follow instructions provided by TRS race personnel.
  • Any racer who DNF’s for any reason or receives medical attention or is injured while on the racecourse must report back to the Registration area after returning to the race campus.
  • No one is allowed past the school building perimeter walls or fence, except during the Big Bike Riders meeting.
  • No dirt bikes allowed in the Big Bike spectator area.
  • No spectators are allowed in the Race Start Line, Endurocross lane, Log Hop, or Finish Check/Scoring areas. Spectators must stay completely outside the safety barriers in these areas. 
  • Any violations by a racer or someone associated with a racer of the above Safety list is subject to a racer being DQ’d or issued a minimum 5-minute scoring time penalty.
