There Will Be Dust X Message

Greetings and a sincere Happy Thanksgiving to all.

On Saturday November 19th. TRS hosted the 10th running of There Will Be Dust (TWBD) out of the Amado Territory in Amado, Arizona. This year was special for several reasons. Saturday’s event was a milestone year being the 10th. It was held where it all began back in 2013, Amado Arizona. Next, TRS experienced a record attendance number for the event. When pre-registration closed, we had 130 riders on the entry list. And finally, and perhaps most important, the founder of TWBD, Steve Brown made a special appearance coming all the way from Oregon to ride and socialize with TRS. It was great having Steve with us on Saturday.

What made this year special was having the check-in, camping and day parking, and riders meeting all located on the Amado Territory property. The property owner Doug Getchal provided ample camping and day parking space that comfortably accommodated the event’s participants.

Check-in closed on Saturday right at 8:00am. After conducting a brief riders meeting and processing through the “Start Check”, the ride got underway. Our lunch crews picked up the lunch meals from the Longhorn Grill and Saloon (which is just across the interstate from the Amado Territory) and drove out to their assigned locations. Meanwhile riders began their adventure on the backroads and trails.

By the early afternoon, riders began to return and process through the Finish Check. Around 5:00pm the Check crew left the Finish Check station and headed over to the Longhorn Grill and Saloon for the evening festivities.

The meal, dining accommodations, and Longhorn staff hospitality was outstanding. The buffet meal (chicken, ribs, sides and desert) was served under a huge tent structure. We enjoyed a very comfortable table set-up, artificial turf on the floor, propane heaters throughout and a stage upfront to set up the raffle prizes. There were tablecloths on each table, and we ate our meals with real utensils and plates. Rather upscale for a bunch of dirt bikers.

Right after the meal finished, Todd Davis and John Bingham put on a great raffle party show. It took a full hour to dispense all the prizes. Over $2,500 worth of prizes were provided to the lucky winners. Try to guess who won the full gear set grand prize? None other than Steve Brown. Talk about good karma.

All around this was one very special event. No question the best There Will Be Dust ever. There were no serious injuries to report, and everyone seemed to have enjoyed the ride, meals, and raffle party. Once all the financial accounting is done, an announcement will be made regarding the donation amount. If you missed it, you need to be there next year.
