Be sure to camp on the south side of 235K\, the north side is closed to camping. \n\n\n\nSingle track trails abound\, Kelly Canyon & Fort Valley trail systems. \n\n\n\nDirt roads for dual sporting and Adventure bikes. \n\n\n\nMountain bike riding opportunities. \n\n\n\nWe are not using a “developed” campground\, this is a remote camping area\, come prepared. \n\n\n\nLook for TRS signs near the campsite. \n\n\n\nA SubWay and Convenience store is a few miles away from camp\, just off the I-17 Interstate. \n\n\n\nOHV Sticker\, bike spark arrestors and silencers are needed\, you will be riding on the National Forest. \n\n\n\nBe sure to load a copy of the Coconino MVUM onto your GPS device. \n\n\n\nBe alert for fire restrictions notices\, very common this time of year.

Our typical mode of operation is to divide up the supplies among the crews. We then head out on the course and leapfrog the crews as we work. This means we all don’t all stop together to mark a section. One crew stops\, the others move ahead to the next section to be marked.  \n\n\n\nWe are planning for both Saturday and Sunday. DESCRIPTION:Day’s Objective: Trim up the 11 miles of new trails to be used in the 2023 Copper Classic Hare scramble.   \n\n\n\nDates: Saturday and Sunday December 10th & 11Th \n\n\n\nStaging Location: JWJ Cycles\, Motorcycle Museum\, 102 W Main St\, San Manuel\, AZ 85631 \n\n\n\nTime:    8:00am (each day)\, RTR & Riders – then – \n\n\n\n8:30am head out to the new course area. \n\n\n\nLunch: 12:30pm back at JWJ Cycles. Provided by TRS. \n\n\n\nRide optional after lunch each day\, your call. \n\n\n\nTRS members\, you can attend either day or both if you like. Camping overnight is optional.TRS will provide some brush cutting work tools\, bring your own if you like. \n\n\n\nParrish Traweek is offering the following at the JWJ Cycles property: \n\n\n\nTRS Members are allowed to camp overnight on site in the parking lot. If extra room is needed Parrish will open the back gate to accommodate more camping/parking.Club members will have access to the restroom facility including the shower inside the museum. There are “some fold up beds and a couch” if someone wants to sleep inside. (I’m not sure exactly how many he just said “some”) \n\n\n\nTRS we must be sure to keep everything clean\, i.e. the restroom and shower and camping / parking grounds. In the museum it’s OK to look and take photos but please do not sit on or move the bikes around.

We’re staying in a hotel in Alpine Fri night and at Cherry Creek Ranch in Young on Saturday night. Tal Wiwi Lodge in Alpine might still have rooms available for Fri if you book now. We have capacity for 2 more at Cherry Creek on Sat night. You can also camp. I’m going to add in Willow Springs for Sunday but this is pretty much the route. I’ve never ridden Rock House Road (east of Cherry Creek trail) so difficulty unknown. Used to be big bike friendly\, but one monsoon can change that. Let me know if you want to join. DESCRIPTION:The Coronado National Forest has arranged to have a professional trail maintenance crew available this coming week to perform some improvement work to the Red Spring Trail. We can participate by providing insight from a dirt bike rider’s perspective and do some light duty brush trimming while they do the heavy lifting. Granted\, this is late notice and mid week work\, but there is a growing list of retired members who might have time to commit to this effort. \n\n\n\nDetails from Gary Meeker.TRS\, come join the ACE (Arizona Conservation Experience) trail building/maintenance crew to perform some Red Spring Trail maintenance. Date: Wednesday Feb. 9th.  \n\n\n\nTime: 8:00 AM\, RTR \n\n\n\nLocation: Meet at the Hunters Parking area  \n\n\n\nBring your bike\, riding gear and brush trimming tools. This effort will be spread over at least 3 days. The ACE crew will be working on a spot North of Coyote Well on 482. This first day the ACE crew probably won’t be doing much work\, just scouting the work and meeting with George and Gary on the work we would like done. DESCRIPTION:Place: The Red Spring Trail system in the Tumacacori Mountains on the west side of I-19 near Tubac Az. \n\n\n\nWhere Will We Meet? At the Official Red Spring Trail Staging area\, just off Forest Service Road # 684. This Staging area is about 4 miles in from the I-19 West Side Frontage Road access point. Some like to park at the Hunters Access parking area a few hundred yards in from the Frontage Road rather than driving all the way to the RST Staging area. The choice is yours but be at the RST Staging area by 9am. \n\n\n\nWhat do you bring? Your riding gear\, bike\, hydration pack and a snack. \n\n\n\nWhat will we do? Have a quick Safety Meeting with the Forest Service and issue working supplies. Ride our bikes to the trail spots in need of our attention. Pick up trash left along designated Red Spring Trail routes by visitors to this area. Drop the filled trash bags along the main roads for the Forest Service to collect in their trucks. \n\n\n\nAlong with Trail Riders of Southern Arizona\, the USFS\, Nogales Ranger District will be supporting this effort. Here is a chance to give back to your sport\, please consider joining us.
